GET THE BEST OF BOISE

Sitting at the base of the foothills, the Northeast side of Boise is known for its historic homes, unique architecture, and proximity to outdoor recreational activities.

With the foothills to the north, the Boise River to the south, downtown Boise to the east, and Lucky Peak Reservoir to the west, the northeast side of Boise has the best of all worlds. It also features a short commute to downtown and urban amenities, but an equally short jaunt to some of the greatest outdoors in all of the United States.

A RICH WESTERN HISTORY

The area got its start in the 1890s after Kelly Hot Springs was discovered and used to provide water for Boise’s fire hydrants. The owners of the water company began building their picturesque homes on Warm Springs Avenue, pumping natural hot water from just east of Table Rock to heat their homes. These homes were some of the first in the nation to utilize a geothermal source for heat.

THE AREA'S MOST STUNNING ARCHITECTURE

Residents of northeast Boise also boast of some of the most beautiful and iconic homes in the valley. The Historic District, flanked by Jefferson Boulevard (later renamed McKinley) to the north and Warm Springs Avenue to the south, consists of 39 blocks of residential homesites. The area was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Homes for sale in the Boise foothills also offer a wide array of styles for homeowners. With a mix of home styles — including craftsman bungalows, Queen Anne cottages, and Spanish-style villas — the northeast side of Boise is dotted with an eclectic array of architecture that gives it a distinct and sophisticated personality.

PRIME OUTDOOR ACTIVITY ACCESS

Speaking of Table Rock, this hiking trail is one of the more iconic landmarks in the state. Known for its accessible hiking trails and prominent illuminated cross at the summit, it is a trail enjoyed by tens of thousands of hikers and bikers every year.

If you are into boating or skiing, Lucky Peak Reservoir is just east of the area. Originally built for flood control and irrigation purposes, Lucky Peak Lake quickly became a town favorite. Lucky Peak State Park was added in 1955 and offers many amenities such as picnic areas, restroom facilities, a boat marina, and more.

For the outdoorsy types that want to stay close to the urban action of a vibrant downtown, the Northeast area of Boise is picture perfect.
