As we make the shift from summer to fall, we find things to put away, and seek items to dig out from our closets and cabinets that kept our belongings safe during the summer heat. Memories sift in with every new season, bringing a little bit of heartache as we say goodbye to one for another year, and hello to a spark of excitement as we embrace the opportunities of new adventures waiting quietly ahead. It is in the act of daily living that we become accustomed to processing these stages of life and the beauty of seasonal growth that pushes us onward.
The cold air slowly brews in suspense, getting ready to rattle the trees as we busy ourselves in preparation for the months to come. Fall is a season for reflection before winter sets in for that initial hard freeze. Yard work beckons us to tackle more projects in order to preserve our groomed landscaping in the colder weather (schedule a sprinkler blowout before it gets too cold). Air conditioning transitions to heating inside our living space as we attempt to redefine what “cozy” means to us and our families. We thrive with a to-do list making sure all boxes have been checked in anticipation of the last leaf falling to the ground.
What is it about the fall that resonates the most with you? Is it that favorite comfy sweater you hung up when the sunlight came draping in, a dusty book on your shelf with untouched pages begging to be picked up once more, your tastebuds craving a warm pumpkin spice latte amidst the fresh dew of the morning, or the vibrant colors seemingly painted in your favorite trees lining the road that takes you home? Maybe it’s the football season that kicks off, gathering you around your closest friends with a competitive rival keeping your team spirit fighting for the win. Whatever it is, I am certain the city has something to accommodate you in your individual quest for comfort and new experiences during this beautiful season.
