NAMPA’S RICH HISTORY

Legend has it that the city took its name from the Shoshone word for moccasin or footprint. Nampa still reflects touches of its Old West ancestry in its historic downtown. The city center has managed to keep its quaint feel with ambitious streetscape beautification projects to refine the look.

The 1903 Nampa Train Depot Museum is an appealing landmark, while numerous new businesses, including coffee shops, wineries, restaurants, bars, and live entertainment venues, have added vibrancy.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY

Families are drawn to the city for its educational options. Thanks to its 15 elementary schools, four middle schools and four high schools, many Nampa residents with children can locate within walking distance or a short drive to the schools of their choice.

While local industry attracts employment in retail, manufacturing, agribusiness, technology, and biosciences, those who work in Boise or other communities within the region won’t experience a long commute. Nampa is located along the important Interstate 84, with four entrance/exit ramps.
