NAMPA'S RICH HISTORY

Legend has it that the city took its name from the Shoshone word for moccasin or footprint. Nampa still reflects touches of its Old West ancestry in its historic downtown. The city center has managed to keep its quaint feel with ambitious streetscape beautification projects to refine the look.

The 1903 Nampa Train Depot Museum is an appealing landmark, while numerous new businesses, including coffee shops, wineries, restaurants, bars, and live entertainment venues, have added vibrancy.

NAMPA'S LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

The Snake Creek Stampede Rodeo, one of the nation’s largest, takes place in Nampa every third week in July. The Ford Idaho Center, the arena hosting this event, has also scheduled entertainment as varied as a Rolling Stones concert, national athletic events, and Monster Jam motorsport shows.

Other local attractions and recreational draws include the Warhawk Air Museum, two shopping centers, countless wineries and craft breweries, and the natural wonders of nearby Lake Lowell and the Deer Park National Wildlife Refuge.
