A Giving Circle Announces 2019 Nonprofit Beneficiaries

Amherst Madison Real Estate Brokerage Prepares For Year Two Of A Giving Circle

“We’ll raise a hundred thousand dollars for local nonprofits that are impacting our communities” he said. Nick Schlekeway, CEO and founding partner of Amherst Madison, raised some eyebrows late last year when he threw out the $100k figure to his partners, agents and community supporters. No one really had a clear picture of how this was going to be achieved. The creation of A Giving Circle was born out a deep desire to lift up our communities, to see them grow and thrive. That desire to be a part of something bigger played a major factor in the success of that first event last December. Raising a total of $112,500 split between five local nonprofit organizations, it was obvious after that night that A Giving Circle was here to stay.

So how do we improve on what already blew away all expectations? Double it! That’s right, this year’s goal is to hit a mark of $250,000 for three very special organizations. The one hundred plus agents of Amherst Madison were called upon earlier this year to submit their nominations for the local Idaho nonprofit organizations that they felt were taking action to build up and improve Idaho communities. The board members of A Giving Circle carefully reviewed each nomination and made the very difficult decision to narrow the nominations down to only three.

As a local company, we owe everything to the Treasure Valley. Our community has blessed us with the opportunity to thrive and it is our distinct pleasure to pay it forward. A Giving Circle is the manifestation of our belief that ‘communities deserve more’ and of our mission to impact those communities. – Nick Schlekeway, Founder and CEO

Amherst Madison on behalf of A Giving Circle 2019 is proud to announce the three nonprofit organizations as beneficiaries of our fundraiser gala event on Friday, December 14th, 2019 at JUMP in downtown Boise.

Boise Bicycle Project

Boise Bicycle Project

Boise Bicycle Project (BBP) functions as a bicycle recycling center as well as an educational workspace in a diverse and non-threatening atmosphere. By refurbishing donated bicycles and teaching bicycle education, BBP strives to provide access to a reliable bicycle for transportation. Many of us experienced the empowerment and freedom of a bicycle at a young age and unfortunately, this is not a reality for many kids in our own community. BBP is committed to making this experience a reality for every kid in the Treasure Valley.

Family Advocates

Family Advocates

Family Advocates is a private, independent 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency founded in 1978 and serving Southwest Idaho. Our founders saw the need to keep children out of the foster system and they established a long-term vision of seeing the end of child abuse in Idaho. Keeping families healthy, stable, and preventing child abuse from every happening, was the foundation of the Family Advocates’ vision. This vision has evolved from a volunteer-based Home Visiting Program to our current Family Strengthening Program.

Idaho Backcountry Veterans

Idaho Backcountry Veterans

Idaho Backcountry Veterans (IBV) is an outdoor nonprofit created for our veterans to enjoy quality hunting fishing and other sporting activities. Recently a study found that boreal forests emit a chemical that is beneficial to humans in a measurable way, to the point of even easing depression. Hunters have known this instinctively for thousands of years. Idaho Backcountry Veterans aims to get as many of our war impacted vets into this serene yet challenging environment as possible.

Each organization will have the opportunity to present their cause and mission to the attendees at the black tie formal gala in December. After hearing the presentations the attendees will vote for their top choice. The total funds will be divided based on the voting and disbursed that very night. We will have roughly 100 tickets available to the public. Look for those to go on sale in September. As for now, we still have valuable and important sponsorship spots to fill for the event. We are putting out the call to all Treasure Valley businesses that are ready to step up and be a part of something bigger. Download our 2019 Sponsorship information guide below to get started. Then be sure to RSVP your interest on our tickets page where you will receive updates regarding ticket sales and sneak previews of the amazing items and packages that will be auctioned off at the event.
